Muscle Group: Triceps

Cable incline tricep pushdowns work your triceps in two ways. The bench eliminates cheating and greater isolates your arms. The triceps are worked from a 45-degree angle, rather than a straight up and down movement.

  1. Place an incline bench so your head is under the cable pulley. Take a seat, reach back and grab the bar.
  2. Bring it down so that your elbows are down and rubbing against your sides. Your forearms should be bent so that they are touching your biceps. This is the starting position.
  3. Keeping your elbows steady, press the cable down until you feel a peak contraction in your triceps. Pause and lower until control, emphasizing the stretch of the exercise.
